Energy Labelling – EPREL ID

The purpose of energy labelling is to inform consumers about the energy efficiency of different products. It is intended to make it easier for consumers to choose energy-saving products.

The requirement for energy labelling is defined in the Energy Labelling Regulation (EU) 2017/1369, Article 3.

In Norway, the requirement is regulated by, among other things, the Product Labelling Act (Forbrukermerkeloven).

The energy labelling requirement applies to a wide range of products, including:

  • Refrigerators, freezers, washing machines, dishwashers, dryers, and ovens

  • Wood stoves and fireplaces

  • Light bulbs, lighting fixtures, and LED lighting

  • Water heaters, heat pumps, boilers

  • Room heating fans and other energy-related products

  • Solar modules and solar panels

NVE (Norwegian Water Resources and Energy Directorate) is responsible for supervising compliance with energy labelling requirements.

Automatic Download of Energy Labels from EPREL

EPREL is the European database for energy labelling, containing all energy labels for products sold in the European market.

The EPREL database can be accessed at: https://eprel.ec.europa.eu/screen/home
Each energy label has a unique ID called the EPREL ID, which is also a data field in NOBB Supplier.

The screenshot below shows how the EPREL ID appears on the website (highlighted in yellow):
