1.4.2 Packaging

Logistics information is a general term for information related to an item’s packaging. Packaging refers to all units an item should be sold in, e.g., piece, package, carton, pallet, etc.

Rules for registering packaging in NOBB:

  • The smallest saleable packaging from store to final customer must be the smallest electronically identifiable packaging F-PAK.

  • F-PAK must consist of the item's price unit.

  • The first packaging must be packaging class F-PAK. This does not apply to Display items, which must have packaging class D-PAK as the first packaging.

  • The packaging type per package must be unique.

  • "Consists of unit" should be a packaging type that exists on one of the item’s other packaging or price unit.

  • Packagings must have a valid unit according to the selected packaging class. See overview.

  • Volume is stated in cubic meters (m³) and should be the packaging's gross volume, including packaging. Volume is calculated automatically based on height, length, and width.

  • Volume can be specified as a custom value in a separate data field if the calculated volume does not match the packaging's shape (e.g., cone, cylinder, etc.).

  • All orderable packaging must have a GTIN number.

  • GTIN number is mandatory for F-PAK on Standard items, Composite items, and Service items.

  • GTIN number is mandatory for D-PAK on Displays.

  • GTIN number is recommended for D-PAK and T-PAK on Standard items.

  • D-PAK must consist of F-PAK.

  • T-PAK must consist of D-PAK or F-PAK.

  • It is allowed to have multiple D- and T-paks on the same item (does not apply to Displays, which can only have one D-PAK).
