What is Transport Labeling

It is the sender’s responsibility to determine whether a substance is allowed to be transported. For all hazardous substances and chemicals, there is an international requirement that the manufacturer must provide a safety data sheet with all necessary information.

Section 14 of the safety data sheet covers everything you need to know about transport and this information can then be entered into NOBB:

  • Which hazard classes the substance belongs to

  • Which packaging group applies

  • The substance’s UN number

  • For ADR transport, the chemical name of the substance or article

If the safety data sheet does not specify a UN number, the substance is not classified as dangerous goods.
