Both Customs NO codes and EU customs codes are based on the HS system.

Customs NO code:

  • Consists of 8 digits

  • Structure:

    • HS (6 digits): follows the HS system

    • 2 digits for national subdivisions adapted to Norwegian needs

  • Used in Norway

EU Customs Code:

In the EU, the Combined Nomenclature (CN) is used together with the TARIC system (Integrated Tariff of the European Union).

  • Consists of 10 digits

  • Structure:

    • HS (6 digits): follows the HS system

    • CN (8 digits): HS + 2 digits specifying EU subdivisions

    • TARIC (10 digits): CN code + 2 additional digits for specific EU rules

  • Used by EU member states

Summary:
Customs NO codes have 2 national digits, while EU codes have 4 additional digits for EU-specific requirements.
In NOBB Supplier, the Customs NO code must have 8 digits, and the EU customs code 10 digits.
