Customs NO Code
A Customs NO code is an international classification system based on the Harmonized System (HS) for the description and coding of goods. The system is international and is used to identify items and determine which customs duties and charges apply upon import and export.
Use cases:
Identification of items: Customs codes are used to identify and classify different types of items nationally and internationally.
Determination of customs rates: Customs codes determine the correct customs duty for each specific item in accordance with applicable customs regulations.
Statistical purposes: Customs codes are used for statistical reporting, analysing trade patterns and economic activity.
Regulatory purposes: Customs codes help regulate trade by enabling customs authorities to better control and follow up illegal trade, risks, and trade restrictions.
A Customs NO code consists of 8 digits:
The first 6 digits are identical to the international HS codes
Digits 7 and 8 apply to Norway and are adapted to Norwegian needs
