2.5.1 Item types

Standard item

Standard items are items with fixed, defined information and characteristics, which can be identified by a NOBB number/GTIN number. Examples of Standard items include screws of a specific type, size, and quality, insulation of a specific type, size, quality, etc. Most items in NOBB are Standard items.

Standard items must have at least one consumer packaging (F-pak) and always have an product image and a NOBB price (applies to items in the NOBB Total channel). The F-pak must include GTIN, height, length, width, weight, and volume. A standard item must have at least one orderable package. All orderable packages must have a GTIN.

Special item

Special items are items that are produced on request by the customer or are tailored to each specific order (custom-made).

Special items do not require an product image, and no dimensions or weight are needed for packaging, as these often vary from order to order. There is also no requirement for a NOBB price.

Special items should have a GTIN number on the packaging if the packaging is defined as orderable.

Display Item

A display is a type of item that consists of several other items, where the individual items can be sold separately to the end customer. An example of a display might be a box containing marker pens and refills as the picture seen below.

The display itself is registered with the D-pak as the first packaging and should not have an F-pak.
A display can consist of one or more items. It must consist of at least one item type, with a quantity greater than one, or at least two different items.

Once a display has been approved in NOBB, the following changes cannot be made:

  • Adding a new item to the display

  • Removing an item from the display

  • Changing the quantity of an item in the display

Product documentation and product images must be registered for each item in the display. The display itself must also have at least one product image.

Composite item

A composite item is an item made up of several different items, where the items that make up the composite item have their own NOBB numbers and are often sold separately. Examples of Composite items include a garage, shower cabin, wall elements, etc.

A composite item follows a similar structure and set of rules as a display. The key difference is that a composite item must have the F-pak as the first packaging. The items that make up the composite item are linked in the same way as for a display.

Once a composite item is approved in NOBB, the following changes cannot be made:

  • Adding a new item to the composite item

  • Removing an item from the composite item

  • Changing the quantity of an item in the composite item

Other rules include:

  • Product documentation and product images must be registered for each item in the composite item.

  • The composite item itself must also have product documentation and an product image.

  • The weight of the packaging for a composite item must be the sum of the weights of the packaging for the items in the composite item.

  • Height, length, and width must be registered with the total external dimensions of the items stacked together.

  • An example of a composite item could be an item consisting of three items: shower glass, shower tray, and fasteners.

Service items

Service items are "non-physical" items, such as assembly, service, repairs, fees, transport, etc.

Norsk Byggtjeneste manages a range of Service items in the category 01 Services, and these items should be used by suppliers and traders in connection with invoicing, ordering, and order confirmation. Only Byggtjeneste can create items in this category. If additional Service items are needed, they can be created by Byggtjeneste. Suppliers in NOBB should not enter prices for these items (as an alternative supplier).

Service items must have at least one packaging registered with a GTIN.

If special needs arise for new Service items that are not suitable for the shared assortment, suppliers can create these items themselves using the item type Special item.
