1.8.6 Guidelines for Digital Channel Text + Dimensions/Size
General
The Digital Channel Text and Dimensions/Size fields together describe the "name" of the product.
They should help customers identify the product, catch attention, and be easy to recognize.
The text should be ready to use directly in online stores and be relevant and easy to understand for all types of customers.
A clear product name helps customers choose the right item. It must contain enough information to be understood on its own.
This is not the same as the product’s module or detailed description.
Rules
The Digital Channel Text and Dimensions/Size fields must be used together
The text must clearly describe what the product is and its most important features
Combined, both fields must not exceed 60 characters
Text should use both uppercase and lowercase letters
The text must include the product type in Norwegian (noun), e.g. Parkett, Drensrør
The combination of Digital Channel Text + Dimensions/Size must be unique for the supplier's products
Only valid characters are allowed
Recommendations
Start the Digital Channel Text with a noun in Norwegian
The text should make sense even without any other product details
Avoid repeating info already stored in fields like Manufacturer, Company Brand, or Brand Name, unless needed for clarity
Avoid unnecessary punctuation like commas, periods, and special characters
If the product’s size or dimensions are important, enter them in the Dimensions/Size field
Don’t write the same size information in both fields — avoid duplication
Use the format value + unit in the Dimensions/Size field, e.g. 12mm
Use “x” for measurements, not an asterisk (*), e.g. 36x198mm
The Dimensions/Size field can be left blank if not relevant
Keep the text short and simple. Avoid long or complex names
Be consistent. Use the same style and formatting for similar products — this helps customers compare and navigate
Avoid abbreviations in the Digital Channel Text if there's enough space to write the full word
