2.3 Texts and Descriptions
Module Text
Module text should be a short name that describes the items belonging to the module. Module text is often used in connection with statistics and discount agreements, and is transferred and used in many different systems by NOBB users. Examples of module texts are shown below:

Item Text
There are different types of item texts in NOBB, which vary in length (number of characters). The common feature of item texts is that they should provide a clear and unique description of each individual item, often including size, color, and features.
Primary text (system text) and Secondary text - additional information are most often used in retail data systems, while e-commerce solutions require more marketing-oriented information (Digital Channel Text).
Item texts in NOBB are used for searching for items and are presented to end customers through, for example, online stores, invoice texts, shelf edges, etc. Therefore, it is essential that the quality of the text is high.
Primary text (System Text) in NOBB Total Channel
Primary text is used in many contexts. It is transferred to various IT systems and is often visible in retail e-commerce, on invoices, and shelf edge label holders. Therefore, this text must be clear and should be formatted according to the NOBB text template (see the NOBB example booklet). ). It is important that all suppliers use the same way of describing the items. It is recommended to begin Primary text with the type of item, e.g., HAMMER, NAIL, DECK SCREW, etc. It is possible to place the brand name first in Primary text, provided the text is descriptive enough to uniquely identify the item. The text must be in Norwegian and should be unique for each item from the supplier.
Primary text and Secondary text – additional information are most commonly used in the retail store data systems, while e-commerce solutions require more marketing-oriented information (Digital Channel Text).
Secondary text - Additional Information both NOBB Total and NOBB VA/VVS
Secondary text - Additional Information is used to provide further details about the item, possibly to describe abbreviations used in Primary text. For example, the number of screws (or other items) in a blister pack or box can be stated when this is the smallest sales unit. Secondary text - Additional Information can be left blank if no further description is needed beyond what is stated in Primary text.
Digital Channel Text in NOBB Total Channel
Digital Channel Text should contain the item name and provide a short description or presentation of the item in Norwegian. The purpose is to give the user a quick overview of what the item is about. Item text is used in various contexts, including in online stores.
The combination of Dimension and Digital Channel Text must be unique and has a maximum length of 60 characters (combined).
It is important that the text is easy to understand and unique to each item from the supplier. Abbreviations should be avoided.
Digital Channel Text in NOBB Total Channel in NOBB VAVVS Channel
Digital Channel Text has a maximum length of 60 characters, including the Dimension/Size field, and is used for specifying the product name (product text) in Norwegian. Digital Channel Text and Dimension/Size must be unique together.
It is important that the text is easy to understand and unique for each article from the supplier. Abbreviations should be avoided.
Digital Channel Text (without Dimension/Size) has a maximum length of 60 characters and must be unique from the supplier.

Dimension/Size
The item's physical dimension should be specified with a unit of measurement, or possibly size. This field must be used together with Digital Channel Text. The combination of Dimension/Size and Digital Channel Text must not exceed 60 characters.
Module Description
The module description should contain an informative and often sales-promoting text that describes the items in the module. This text is often shown in retail e-commerce stores, so it is important information for the end customer.
The module description appears for all items linked to the module.
The text should highlight the item’s advantages, features, and uses.
Item Description
An item description can be used if it is not possible to describe all items in a module with a common module description.
The item description should contain an informative and sales-promoting text. The text is often shown in retail e-commerce stores, so it is important information for the end customer.
The text should emphasize the item's benefits, features, and uses. The item description overrides the module description if it is provided.
