2.1 NOBB Business rules - Use of NOBB

How is NOBB used?

NOBB is used by a variety of stakeholders in the construction industry in Norway. Examples include retail chains and wholesalers, contractors, descriptive and executing parties, and others who search on http://NOBB.no or transfer NOBB data to their own systems.

NOBB contains item information from suppliers in the construction and HVAC industries. NOBB provides detailed item information, product documentation, images, marketing information, item properties, and logistics data.

Using NOBB offers significant advantages for suppliers, wholesalers, trading actors, and other participants in the construction industry, as it provides a common source of item information.

For many NOBB users, updating product information from NOBB is automated, with changes and new items automatically updated via API services. More and more system providers for other actors in the construction industry are creating similar integrations to retrieve data from NOBB.

Using NOBB is also an important part of making business processes digital, such as electronic ordering, order confirmation, and invoicing (EDI).

Company Roles in NOBB

There are different company roles in NOBB:

  • Supplier – Companies that register information in NOBB. A supplier can either be the owner of the item information or an alternative supplier who registers their own prices for existing items in NOBB (e.g., if they are a wholesaler).

  • NOBB Data Total – Retailers have access to all information in NOBB, including NOBB prices.

  • NOBB Data – A user who has access to all information in NOBB except for the NOBB index price.

Other uses of NOBB is in NOBB Contract and ByggDok, relevant for Norwegian companies.
