NOBB Alternative Supplier Principles

If an item is registered in NOBB with the GTIN number assigned by the manufacturer and another item owner tries to do the same, the item will be rejected by the one attempting to re-register it. This is a validation automatically carried out in NOBB because the same GTIN number cannot exist for multiple NOBB numbers (which would create significant challenges for trade).

If an item owner is selling another manufacturer’s items (already registered in NOBB) and wishes to register these in NOBB, they must become the price giver for that specific item.

This allows multiple suppliers to offer the same item to the market, which is often the case.
To gain access to become a price giver, one must contact Byggtjeneste and request permission to become a price giver. Byggtjeneste will then contact the existing item owner for approval. If the existing item owner agrees, a connection will be made in NOBB to grant this access.

Who "Owns" the Item

In some cases, it can be challenging for item owners/price givers to agree on who should "own" the item in NOBB. In the current solution, "first come, first served" is generally the rule for who becomes the item owner on an item.
In a few cases, disputes can arise about the ownership of an item between item owners in NOBB.

  1. If the item is imported from a foreign manufacturer, the manufacturer can be asked to confirm who the main agent is and who should be the item owner in NOBB.

  2. Based on this, Byggtjeneste can move items from one item owner to another if necessary.

  3. If two suppliers import the same item and cannot agree on ownership, one possible solution is for both item owners to register the item, but the items must have different GTIN numbers. This means the items must be labeled with new GTIN numbers (which can be done by the manufacturer or the item owner).

It is important to note that it does not matter to the recipients of the information who owns the item in NOBB. Users of NOBB retrieve item information and prices from the supplier they have an agreement with.

Procedures When Item Ownership is Transferred

When an item owner wishes to take over a NOBB item from another item owner, a request is sent to the existing item owner.

The item owner must confirm, and the item will then be moved by Byggtjeneste. The previous item owner may then become a price giver or choose to discontinue the item.

  1. Alternatively, the existing item owner may refuse the transfer/move of the item but agree that the "new" item owner becomes the price giver.

  2. If an agreement on ownership cannot be reached, the manufacturer of the items can be contacted to determine who has primary responsibility and should be the item owner in NOBB. The contact with the manufacturer must be made by the item owner or price giver.

  3. If no agreement can be reached on who should own the item in NOBB based on this, the matter must be resolved between the relevant parties.

Byggtjeneste's role is to facilitate item information and should not take a stance on who the rightful owner of the items in the market is.
